PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recording and reproducing apparatus 1 enhancing operability and convenience of a user by searching a part just before which reproduction is stopped and preferentially reproducing data just before the stopped part when the video recording and reproducing apparatus 1 displays (reproduces) a title list. SOLUTION: When the video recording and reproducing apparatus 1 displays (reproduces) the title list on a display apparatus 21, the video recording and reproducing apparatus 1 searches the part just before which reproduction is stopped, and preferentially reproduces the data just before the stopped part so as to be capable of enhancing the operability and the convenience of the user.
