PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetoresistance effect element capable of improving performance of reproduction. SOLUTION: A CIP-GMR element is formed so that hard biased layers 33R, 33L are separately laid on lead layers 32R, 32L buried in the spaces on both sides of an MR layer pattern 31. A part 33E near the tip becomes hard to vary in thickness in the manufacturing process of the CIP-GMR element 30, the thickness of the part 33E near the tip becomes hard to differ from each other between the hard biased layers 33R, 33L. Thus, since a bias amount applied from the hard biased layers 33R, 33L to the MR pattern 31 is equalized, an reproduction output is stabilized and asymmetry is improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
