An optical pickup for a thin optical disk device, in which the range of displacement of a lens holder can be limited when an excessive impact is applied to the optical disk device and the optical pickup. The optical pickup has an optical base, an objective lens drive device mounted on the optical base, and a cover (6) for covering the upper surface of the optical base. The objective lens drive device has a damper base fixed to the optical base, suspension wires (53, 54, 55) each supported at one end at the damper base, the lens holder (2) to which the other end of each of the suspension wires is fixed, an objective lens held at the lens holder (2), and a pair of bobbins (241) for a tracking coil, provided on a front side section of the lens holder (2). A first projection (71) projecting toward the outside of the lens holder (2) is provided on the bobbins (241). The displacement range of the lens holder (2) is limited when the first projection (71) collides with the cover (6).
