<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus and a communication system which can reproduce an image displayed on an opposite party's communication apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In a videophone communication apparatus 100, a network monitoring unit 209 detects a communication state between the apparatus 100 and an opposite party's videophone communication apparatus. An image processing unit 205 processes image data to be output from a camera 102 on the basis of the detected communication state, and an image based on the processed image data is displayed on a display unit 110.
