PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide programs and an apparatus for device management, which can prevent sub managers from making all the management functions usable, and reduce the load of management for applications to be distributed to the sub managers, when a manager delegates management tasks to the sub managers for specified management functions of a device. SOLUTION: At least one of a plurality of management functions for a device 3 can be considered as being definable whether to be available, and a usage restriction definition file 2, which contains a device password for acquiring authentication for the device, is used. A computer executes steps for reading the definition information on usability for the management functions and the password from the file 2 to transmit them to the device 3, recognizing the usability for the plurality of device management functions, based on the read definition information, and executing processing to use only available management functions, based on the recognition result.
