PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal element suppressing deterioration in display performance caused by reduction of a numerical aperture being a problem brought when a transistor effective for high definition and high speed response is used in the lamination type liquid crystal display element effective for full color display. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element is formed by laminating a plurality of structural units each having, on a substrate, a liquid crystal layer containing at least one dichroic dye and a host liquid crystal, at least one transparent thin film transistor, transparent pixel electrodes disposed in a matrix shape and a transparent counter electrode.
