PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strut type shock absorber having such a structure that a damper can be smoothly repeatedly projected and recessed from and into an outer tube in such a state that dust and dirt are prevented from entering the outer tube from the outside. SOLUTION: A knuckle bracket 1 for connecting a shock absorber to an axle side comprises a pair of outer brackets 15 and a pair of inner brackets 14 joined to the inside of the outer brackets 15. An air vent communication hole 21 for communicating the inside of the outer tube 3 with the outside thereof is formed in the outer tube 3 facing a tube side joining part 20 positioned nearest the outer tube 3 among a joining part between the outer bracket 15 and the inner bracket 14.
