PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion generating device in which the number of times of electric discharge per unit time is changeable and required cost and space are reduced. SOLUTION: The ion generating device comprises electric discharge portions 8 and 9 and a voltage applying circuit for applying a predetermined voltage converted from an ac voltage supplied from an ac power supply 1 to the electric discharge portions 8 and 9. The voltage applying circuit includes a SSR 15, a microcomputer 13 controlling the SSR 15, and CR circuit (a resistor 2 and a capacitor 4) having a fixed time constant and applies the predetermined voltage to the electric discharge portions 8 and 9 every electric discharge of the CR circuit, in which the CR circuit receives the voltage only when the SSR 15 is in an on state. The microcomputer 13 detects the zero-cross of the ac voltage and controls the SSR 15 into the on state only when the phase of the ac voltage is in a predetermined range. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
