PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hook capable of immediately unloading a cargo even if the cargo is loaded once, and automatically releasing engagement of a tip part of a hook member with an engaging part in placing. SOLUTION: A hook support member 2 is connected to a lifting machine, and has the hook member 3 hooking a suspending cargo 51 and a latch member 4 opening and closing an opening part between a front side end part 10 of the hook support member 2 and a tip part 16 of the hook member 3. A tip part of the latch member 4 is provided with a bolt 24 engaging with the tip part 16 of the hook member 3 when the latch member 4 closes the opening part. In a positive load of applying a load in the gravity direction from the suspending cargo 51 to the hook member 3 and a no-load, the tip part 16 of the hook member 3 engages with the bolt 24. In an inverse load of applying the load in the anti-gravity direction from the suspending cargo 51 to the hook member 3, the engagement of the tip part 16 of the hook member 3 with the bolt 24 is released.
