PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat generation treating apparatus by which a desired treatment effect is obtained by properly controlling output to each heat generation element and where a heat generation element having primary electrical resistivity very different from a reference resistivity is incorporated to a treatment instrument to be usable. SOLUTION: The heat generation treating apparatus 1 is provided with: a coagulotomy implement 2 where one or more heat generation elements 21 are provided at a heat generation treatment part 7; an applied current detection part 31 and an applied voltage detection part 32; a control calculation part 33 for calculating the resistivity or temperature of the heat generation elements 21; an output setting part 35 which performs setting for controlling the heat generation elements 21; an output control part 36 which controls output to the heat generation elements 21; a plurality of identifiers 10 expressing characteristic information of the heat generation elements 21; an identifier information obtaining part 41 for obtaining characteristic information expressed by the plurality of identifiers 10; an information discrimination part 46 for discriminating the characteristic of the heat generation elements 21; and a control state correction part 47 for correcting control of heat generation by the output control part 36.
