<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma television whose power consumption can greatly be reduced by a simple means. <P>SOLUTION: The plasma display is equipped with a PDP (Plasma Display Panel) where light emitting elements comprising fluorescent materials of red, green, and blue are horizontally and vertically arranged and displays prescribed video on the PDP by making fluorescent materials illuminate. Once a power-saving mode is selected (S12), only light emitting elements in even-ordered columns are made to illuminate first (S13) and stopped from illuminating a certain time later, and only light emitting elements in odd-numbered columns are made to illuminate (S14). The operations are repeated to thin out and make light emitting elements in alternate columns illuminate, columns of illumination and columns of non-illumination alternating at prescribed time intervals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
