<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current sensor of a magnetic proportional type capable of measuring a current over a wide range regardless of the magnitude of the current, when measuring the current flowing in a current route. <P>SOLUTION: This current sensor includes a core 14 formed in a circular shape having a gap 14a partially, surrounding the periphery of a prescribed position of the current route 12 along which the current I which is a measuring object flows, wherein the first magnetic flux B1 having a prescribed directivity is generated by the current flow to thereby form the first magnetic flux B1; a magnetic flux generation means 16 arranged on the core 14, for forming the second magnetic flux B2 having a directivity compensating the first magnetic flux B1 in the core 14; a magnetometric sensor 18 wherein the third magnetic flux B3 acquired by compensating the first magnetic flux B1 by the second magnetic flux B2 is formed in the core 14, and converted into an electric signal corresponding to a change the third magnetic flux B3 and output; and an operation means 22 for calculating the current I based on the electric signal.
