PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thiophene-containing compound excellent in solubility and showing a high mobility, and its polymer. SOLUTION: This thiophene-containing compound expressed by general formula (I) [wherein, Ar<SB>1</SB>is a substituted or non-substituted monovalent aromatic group; X is a 1-6C divalent straight chain-formed hydrocarbon group or a 2-10C divalent branched chain-formed hydrocarbon group or a substituted or non-substituted divalent aromatic group; R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>5</SB>are each H, an alkyl, cyano, a halogen, a substituted amino, a substituted or non-substituted aryl, or a substituted or non-substituted aralkyl; (l) is 1-5 integer; (m), (k) are each 0 or 1 integer] and a thiophene-containing polymer by using the above thiophene-containing compound are provided.
