<p>A rotary steam engine for obtaining mechanical energy efficiently not only from a high temperature heat source but also from various heat sources under low temperature state, e.g. exhaust heat of an internal combustion engine, through a simple arrangement. In this engine, a rotor (1) provided with a plurality of displacement chambers (11) is arranged rotatably in an enclosed container (2) filled with liquid. A steam generating section (4) is installed below the rotor (1) and liquid heated with exhaust heat of an internal combustion engine is evaporated there to generate steam which is then jetted from an outflow passage (42) toward the displacement chamber (11) of the rotor. Since the steam stays in the displacement chamber (11), buoyancy acts on the displacement chamber (11) on the opposite side of the rotor (1) which is thereby rotated to produce rotational energy. As the rotor (1) rotates, steam in the displacement chamber (11) is discharged into the enclosed container (2) and led to a condenser (3) where the steam is condensed and circulated back to the enclosed container (2). Since saturated steam pressure is sustained in the enclosed container (2) by means of a vacuum pump (34), the liquid becomes steam even at low temperature and can rotate the rotor (1).</p> |
