METHOD FOR PREVENTING POSTOPERATIVE HERNIA OF ANTERIOR ABDOMINAL WALL

The method for preventing postoperative hernia of the anterior abdominal wall comprises the suturing of the operative wound of the anterior abdominal wall. Prior to suturing, the peritoneum is separated from the tissues of the anterior abdominal wall up to 5.0 cm along the length of the wound on both sides. The synthetic mesh is placed preperitoneally onto the shaped bed of the separated peritoneum. The mesh is fixed at the edges of the wound by the interrupted sutures. The tissues of the anterior abdominal wall over the mesh are finally sutured.
