PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting apparatus with no necessity to set an address for an individual light emitting lamp (display unit), with easy construction work, and with no lag in display timing even when many light emitting lamps are connected. SOLUTION: The light emitting apparatus has a plurality of light emitting lamps without individual addresses connected serially, while display data sent from a display controller are sequentially taken in by a portion which is equivalent to own data from a head light emitting lamp, the remaining data excluding own data are sent down. At this time, each light emitting lamp calculates the number of light emitting lamps which are connected after it based on the remaining data after excluding own data. Then, the time required for the display data to be taken into the last connected light emitting lamp is derived from the derived number of lamps, and the time delay occurring when one light emitting lamp is passed and set as display standby time.
