PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain low price and high precision smear correction without drastically changing a solid imaging element structure used in general, and without deteriorating performance such as a motion picture frame rate. SOLUTION: Each signal output of a column of only a smear signal component, and effective pixel column in which normal transfer is carried out, are mixed and read out by suppressing charge reading out pulses from photoelectric conversion elements to a vertical transfer for a part of column out of photoelectric conversion elements in the solid imaging elements.
