The method involves applying an automatic reader of a mobile phone (8b) for a vehicle license of a driving license holder (1) at constant distances. The vehicle license is checked on the existence of a person identifying characteristic by the automatic reader of the mobile phone. A vehicle owner (5) accesses the result of the checking of the vehicle license. The checking of the vehicle license is recorded in a database (4) to instruct the driving license holder by the result of the checking. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a mobile phone comprising a reading device for a safety unit (2) a reading device for a safety unit connected to a mobile phone and/or to a vehicle (3) a system for checking physical existence of an official vehicle license of a person.
