The method involves enabling switching between two operating modes of a computer system using a switching unit. A changeover of a clock frequency of the computer system is carried out by switching between the operating modes. The clock frequency in an arrangement mode is higher than in a performance mode. A relationship between the clock frequencies is selected in such a way that performance is equal in two operating modes.
