A method and system for differentiating PDP context subscriptions is useful for saving memory space associated with a Serving General Packet Radio Service Support Node (SGSN) (105). The method includes pre-confÊguring common Protocol Data Packet (PDP) context subscriptions at the SGSN (105). Next, the SGSN (105) receives an attach request from a Mobile Station (MS) (115). In response, following a request sent to a Home Location Register (HLR) (120), the SGSN (105) receives subscription data regarding the MS (115), which subscription data includes a plurality of Access Point Names (APNs). The SGSN ( 105) then determines whether each APN is associated with a common PDP context subscription or with a MS-specific PDP context subscription. The common PDP contexts may be repeatedly added and activated and then deactivated and deleted, as necessary, from a MM context of the MS (1 15) at the SGSN (105).
