METHOD FOR REMOVING SOLID COMPONENT OF WASTEWATER FROM WASHED RICE AND METHOD FOR RECYCLING SOLID COMPONENT THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for removing a solid component of wastewater from washed rice and for recycling the removed solid component as a raw material for a functional food etc.

SOLUTION: An enzyme containing protease is added to the wastewater from washed rice to remove a protein from the surface of the solid in the wastewater from washed rice to thereby expose a hydroxyl group of a starch contained in the solid. Since the hydroxyl group is charged negative, the solid surface bears the negative potential. The hydroxyl group is combined with a positive metal ion in the wastewater from washed rice due to the electrostatic interaction between them, which makes the solid flocculate to settle under its own weight.
