摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode active material having a high conductivity and capable of developing an excellent battery characteristics (charge and discharge characteristics etc.) and its manufacturing method, and a secondary battery using this electrode active material. <P>SOLUTION: This is an electrode active material having as a principal component lithium-contained iron vanadium phosphate glass and glass ceramics as expressed by a general formula : (Li<SB>2</SB>O)<SB>a</SB>(Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>)<SB>b</SB>(V<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>)<SB>c</SB>(P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>)<SB>d</SB>(0&le;a&le;0.5, 0&le;b&le;0.5, 0&le;c&le;0.5, 0&le;d&le;0.5). The manufacturing method of the electrode active material is provided in which a mixture of a prescribed mole ratio of compounds including four elements of Li, Fe, V, P is heated and melted, quenched and solidified, and by adding vanadium to a lithium-contained iron phosphate complex, a mixed valence state is introduced and, by increasing carrier electrons, the conductivity of the electrode active material is improved.
