PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an erroneous determination such as personal himself/herself rejection due to a change in fingerprint with lapse of time while preventing collation processing from having a harmful effect by an input fingerprint image with bad image quality in a fingerprint image collating device. SOLUTION: An image quality determining part 22 performs image quality evaluation processing of input fingerprint image data G of a subject (person himself/herself) of a fingerprint input part 21 to thereby record and register three pieces of input fingerprint image data G1, G2 and G3 with appropriate image quality as registration fingerprint image data A1, A2 and A3 in a registration fingerprint storing part 23 in an FIFO format, an image quality determining part 22 evaluates the image quality of the input fingerprint image data G to be collated and makes the input fingerprint image data G to be read as collation fingerprint image data B with appropriate image quality into a collation fingerprint storing part 24, and when a collating part 25 sequentially collates the image data B the registration fingerprint images from the latest registration fingerprint image A3 to old registration fingerprint images A2→A1 to find coincidence in any among them, the collation fingerprint image data B determined to be coincident in collation is registered and updated as the latest registration fingerprint image data A1 in the registration fingerprint storing part 23 in an FIFO format.
