PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of improving dot reproducibility and enhancing image quality. SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser loaded to an exposure part 33 outputs laser beams, an overshoot generator loaded to the exposure part 33 makes the driving signal of the semiconductor layer overshoot, an image forming part 30 forms a density correction image, a density sensor 70 measures the density of the density correction image formed by the image forming part 30, and an overshoot time determination part 108 determines the overshoot time of the overshoot generated by the overshoot generator in accordance with the density value measured by the density sensor 70.
