PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head cap which prevents a preservation liquid from leaking from an opening section in the head cap having the opening section for forming an engaging section with an inkjet head on a surface being confronted with a head discharging surface. SOLUTION: This head cap is used for protecting the discharging surface of the inkjet head. The head cap for the protection of the inkjet head has a cap bottom surface having an ink accepting section which is formed to be confronted with the discharging port of the inkjet head, the engaging section with the inkjet head on a cap side surface which is orthogonal to the cap bottom surface, and the opening section at a section for which the engaging section is projected to the cap bottom surface.
