SURFACE-COATED CEMENTED-CARBIDE CUTTING TOOL WITH HARD COATING LAYER EXERTING EXCELLENT CHIPPING RESISTANCE IN HEAVY CUTTING OF DIFFICULT-TO-CUT MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cemented-carbide cutting tool with a hard coating layer exerting excellent chipping resistance in heavy cutting of a difficult-to-cut material. SOLUTION: The surface-coated cemented-carbide cutting tool has the hard coating layer on the surface of a cemented carbide base body composed of a tungusten carbide-based cemented carbide alloy or titanium carbonitride-based cermet. The hard coating layer is composed of the following layers (a), (b), (c), and (d): (a) a substrate adhesion layer having an average layer thickness of 0.5-2μm and composed of a (Ti, Al)N layer satisfying a specific composition formula, (b) a lower layer having an average layer thickness of 1-5μm and composed of a (Cr, Al, Si, and B)N layer satisfying a specific composition formula, (c) an interlayer adhesive layer composed of a vanadium nitride layer having an average layer thickness of 0.1-1.5μm, and (d) an upper layer having an average layer thickness of 1-5μm and composed of a V-dispersed VOMlayer having a texture in which a metal V of 0.5-7 atom% in a ratio occupied in the total amount including the VOMis dispersedly distributed in a matrix of VOM(a vanadium oxide).
