TOP GRIPPING ARTICLE CARRIER

A carton is of the top gripping type for accommodating containers. The carton is substantially tubular in structure and includes top (18/32), bottom (14) and side (12, 16) walls. The bottom wall has apertures (24) arranged in rows. Each aperture has one or more foldable retention tabs (26, 28) for operatively engaging a radially protruding part of a container held in each aperture. The carton also includes a bracing tab (34), connected to one of the foldable retention tabs and disposed between and engaging two adjacent containers to minimize relative movement between those containers. The carton also includes a side wall aperture formed in one of the side walls, adjacent one of those containers, for engaging a portion of that container.
