It is possible to generate a synthesis image from a plurality of images of different resolutions and illumination conditions while improving the resolution an image to be processed and matching the illumination condition with the image to be processed. An image synthesis device includes: a camera (11) or the like for acquiring an image to be processed and a plurality of reference images obtained by imaging the same object as the object indicated by the image to be processed under different illumination conditions; a reference image conversion unit (15) for converting the acquired reference images into the same resolution as the image to be processed; a coefficient calculation unit (16) for calculating a conversion coefficient used for generating the image to be processed by linearly coupling the converted reference images; and an image synthesis unit (17) for converting reference images into a target resolution to generate a plurality of converted reference images and linearly coupling the converged reference images which have been generated, by using a conversion coefficient so as to generate a linearly converted image, and outputting the generated linearly converted image or an image obtained by correcting the linearly converted image.
