PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piece of furniture with a drawer which is locked automatically to prevent the drawer from coming out if it is tilted or vibrated by an earthquake, or when it is carried or moved, is pulled back and closed instantly by the reaction of a lock if an earthquake hits when it is open, and automatically gets back instantly to the original state when the earthquake or vibration stops or the situation gets back to normal. SOLUTION: This apparatus for automatically locking a drawer at an earthquake is constituted as follows. A stopper pendulum 1 is placed near a drawer opening 9 just below the lower surface of the bottom board of a drawer 6. One or a line of drawer stoppers 5 are attached in the longitudinal direction on the lower surface of the bottom board of the drawer 6. When an earthquake hits, a stopper 2 on the top of the stopper pendulum 1 is swung up by the earthquake or vibration and hits the drawer stopper 5 on the lower surface of the bottom board of the drawer 6 to prevent the drawer 6 from going out.
