The invention relates to a locking device which allows a camshaft adjuster (10) to be locked in a basic position relative to the degree of adjusting freedom thereof when an internal combustion engine is turned off and restarted. According to the invention, two locking elements (21, 22) are provided, a first one (21) of which has a circumferential tolerance (25) of about zero in the locked position while the second locking element (22) has a circumferential tolerance (26) that is greater than the other circumferential tolerance (25). The first locking element (21) is effective when the internal combustion engine is turned off and restarted while the second locking element (22) is effective instead of the released first locking element (21) at idling speed and at a low operating speed, for example. This makes it possible to ensure reliable locking and releasing while keeping production costs low. |
