The sealing material has over its surface area pleated folds which have much smaller lengths and breadths compared to the material dimensions and which run parallel and/or in different directions. The sealing material has adhesive coating (15) on the underneath for easier fixing. The folds can be uneven so that the sealing material can deform in any direction. The sealing material is made from deformable plastics or metal such as aluminium or copper. Independent claim describes ridge ventilation element made from sealing material.
