Method for development of flat-lying coal seams includes obtaining in process of performing preparation works of short face that is placed in diagonal position with respect to two normal to each other preparation workings, its development from the place of intersection of those workings with increase of face line and its turn by some angle. Diagonal face is prepared through implementation of short cut working at acute angle to each of mutually normal preparation workings with leaving triangular coal pillar between those.
