<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To edit data without erasing recorded data by eliminating the degradation of reproduction durability during a standby period. <P>SOLUTION: Only during data reading from a disk after a read gate signal 105 becomes a high level as shown in FIG. 2 (E), a high-level high-frequency current is superimposed on the driving current of a laser diode as shown in FIG. 2 (F) to execute high-frequency superimposition driving, a RIN is improved, and the error rate of reproduced data is reduced. However, it is only required to read an address while an attenuator is OFF during the other period (standby period), an LD is subjected to low-level high-frequency superimposition driving to apply a small laser beam.
