<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely notify a user of the existence of expired contents without giving discomfort to the user. <P>SOLUTION: When a reproducing apparatus is started, the current time (Trusted time) is obtained by a secure clock incorporated in the reproducing apparatus. Time information for each license described in a license list file about contents recorded in an HDD is compared with the current time, it is confirmed whether license almost expired exists or not. When the license almost expired exists, a time at which warning display is made previously is compared with the current time, when it is determined that warning display is not made within a fixed time, warning display indicating that license almost expired exists is made.
