<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new aromatic sulfide and/or sulfone derivative useful for an ion exchange resin having high ion-exchange capacity and high proton conductivity and producible at a low cost and an electrolyte material for a solid polymer fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The aromatic sulfide and/or sulfone derivative are expressed by general formula (1): A(-W-B)n .. (1) (A is a (substituted)aromatic ring; n is an integer of 2-6; W is an S and/or SO<SB>2</SB>linking group; B is an aromatic ring bonded to A through W provided that the aromatic ring contains 0-5 reactive groups selected from -COX and -SO<SB>2</SB>X and at least one of the aromatic groups has at least one of the reactive groups; and X is a halogen atom, OR (R is H, an alkyl or an aryl) or hydroxyl group). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
