<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new aromatic sulfide and/or sulfone derivative useful for an ion exchange resin having high ion-exchange capacity and high proton conductivity and producible at a low cost and an electrolyte material for a solid polymer fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The aromatic sulfide and/or sulfone derivative are expressed by general formula (1): A(-W-B)n ..
