PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide columnar toner particles capable of solving problems on conventional spherical and pulverized toner particles. SOLUTION: The toner particles have a column shape (cylindrical column) or a shape which resembles the column shape (cylindrical column), and particles having a ratio of column length L to cross-section diameter D in the range of 1-3 occupy≥70% of all the toner particles on a number basis, or the toner particles have a mode value of ratio of column length L to cross-section diameter D in the range of 1.5-2 or an average value of ratio of column length L to cross-section diameter D in the range of 1.33-2 and a distribution width of cross-section diameter D smaller than that of column length L.
