PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing apparatus which can output a photosensitive material fed to the apparatus faster than a conventional apparatus without substantially reducing the effective time of development on a photosensitive material. SOLUTION: The developing apparatus includes; an in-liquid conveying unit to convey an exposed photographic paper P cut into a print size while immersing the paper in a process liquid, in each tank of a plurality of process tanks; and a turn unit 35 having turn conveying means 71, 72 which inverts the photographic paper pulled up from the liquid surface in a preceding process tank and then sends the paper to the next process tank. The turn conveying means conveys the photographic paper at a faster speed than the conveying speed of the paper in the in-liquid conveying unit, in at least a partial section of a photographic paper conveying passage 36 in the turn unit.
