PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting device 1 having improved reliability by reducing possible malfunction of the starting device 1 due to a switching failure of a switch circuit 6, while solving problems resulting from frequent on-off operation of an electromagnetic switch 21. SOLUTION: In the switch circuit 6, control elements 19, 20 are connected in series to a motor circuit 4 and the electromagnetic switch 21 is connected in parallel to the control elements 19, 20. Thus, the starting device 1 can energize a motor circuit 4, not via the electromagnetic switch 21. The starting device 1 therefore solves problems resulting from the frequent on-off operation of the electromagnetic switch 21. Even when either an on-trouble or an off-trouble occurs in the control elements 19, 20, switching can be performed by the switch circuit 6.
