摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool having a hard coating layer exerting superior chipping resistance under high speed heavy cutting of a hard-to-cut material. SOLUTION: This surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool is constituted by forming a hard coating layer consisting of (a)-(d) on the surface of a base body composed of cemented carbide or cermet as follows: (a) A substrate adhesion layer having the average layer thickness of 0.5-2μm and composed of (Ti, Al)N layer satisfying a specific composition formula; (b) a lower-part layer having the average layer thickness of 1-5μm and composed of (Ti, Al, Si, B)N layer satisfying a composition formula, (Ti<SB>1-(X+Y+Z)</SB>Al<SB>X</SB>Si<SB>Y</SB>B<SB>Z</SB>)N (wherein, in the atom ratio, X: 0.40-0.65, Y: 0.01-0.15, Z: 0.01-0.15 and Y+Z:0.20 or less); (c) an interlayer adhesion layer having the average layer thickness of 0.1-1.5μm and composed of a vanadium nitride layer; and (d) an upper-part layer having the average layer thickness of 1-5μm and composed of a vanadium oxide layer.
