PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair which enables the adjustment of reactions in a wider range at a slight degree of operation with a simple structure. SOLUTION: In the reaction device 5, an input/output part 52 is moved by an operation force from a back support rod 4 through an action part 53 to accumulate a repulsive force by displacing an elastomer 51 and so, the back support rod 4 is energized in a direction of being erected by the repulsive force outputted from the input/output part 52 through the action part 53 according to the elastic displacement of the elastomer 51, In this process, also provided is the first reaction adjustment mechanism 6 which makes the initial engagement position of the action part 53 variable on the input/output part 52 when the back support rod 4 is kept erected. The magnitude of the repulsive force applied or removed through the action part 53 is made different by the first reaction adjustment mechanism 6 while the value of the degree of the displacement of the elastomer 51 caused through the action part 53 is made different though the elastic displacement of the elastomer 51 is the same to enable the adjustment of the reaction both in the direction of receiving a lower load that makes both of the repulsive and the degree of the elastic displacement smaller and in the direction of receiving a higher load that makes both of them larger.
