The apparatus to separate the components of a fluid, and especially whole blood passed through a centrifuge, has a holder (6) to take the container (1) with the layered blood from the centrifuge for separation. A second holder (7) takes the container (2) for the first separated blood component. The containers are linked by flow channels (13-15). A second set of flow channels (16-18) extracts any gas from the second container.
