An ink container for containing ink to be supplied to an ink jet head, said ink container being the detachably mountable to a container holder through a mounting opening of the container holder, said ink container comprising: an ink supply opening connectable to an ink receiving opening of said container holder; an air vent; a first engaging portion engageable with a part of the container holder so that said ink container is partly received by said container holder in an inclined state through the mounting opening, when said ink container is being mounted into the container holder center: said first engaging portion being effective to slide on the part of said container holder while receiving a force from the part of said container holder to urge said ink container to such an inner side of said container holder as is opposed to the part, when said ink container is pushed into the container holder with rotation against increasing resistance; and a second engaging portion, provided adjacent to said first engaging portion, for securely mounting said ink container to said container holder with click-type engagement between said said ink container and said container holder.
