576,989. Gas-blast circuit-breakers. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE. May 19, 1944, No. 9695. Convention date, Feb. 18, 1943. [Class 38 (v)] In a gas-blast circuit - breaker with one or more interrupting points, each metallic end part b carries a fixed contact c and a movable contact d, the latter being spring urged into contact with nozzles c. In operation, the gas-blast parts contacts c, d and passing through a tube e, opens a spring- closed valve f thereby exhausting through a channel e1. When the disc f abuts against stops h, the chamber c which is cut off except for the opening k, becomes filled with pressuregas which, after a time determined by the volume of i, helps spring g to reclose the disc f Walls m protect the valve from the effects of the arc. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the valve is a ring valve which encircles the switch chamber, the opening k being horizontal. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), an open ring-shaped valve, with overlapping edges, is used, the opening k being vertical as in Fig. 1.
|
