A thin film transistor array substrate 10 and a method for repairing the same are provided. The substrate 10 has a plurality of data lines 20, scan lines 14, common lines 12 and repairing lines 18 on its surface. The repairing lines 18 are disposed over the scan lines 14 and overlap with the common lines 12. The repairing lines 18 are formed at the same time as the data lines 20. The common lines may comprise protruding portions and branches 32 which overlap with the repairing lines 18 and data lines respectively. In the even of a broken connection 58 or short circuit 56 the repairing method preferably includes performing a laser welding operation to connect the common line 12 with a data line 20, repairing line 18 or a scan line 14. Alternatively, the repair can be carried out by removing a portion of the lines by laser. |
