A scanning head (12) having a fixing part is mounted on one component (2), and a scannable gauge (5) is mounted on a second component (3). The fixing part (14) is provided with a force-activated device (16) for bridging a gap (21) that may occur between the fixing part and the mounting surface of the first component. The force-activated device has a friction coupling for limiting the activation force. An independent claim is included for a method of fixing a measuring system used to detect the movement of a first component with respect to a second component.
