FIELD: dynamic mass-spectrometry; improving mass scan, dynamic and consumer properties of hyperbolic and transit-time mass-spectrometers. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed method for separating charged particles by their specific charge depends on using single-pole analyzer with slit made along axis z to top of angle electrode through which ions enter analyzer work area at certain angle to axis z, energies of these ions being inversely proportional to their masses and their coordinates being equal to zero y0 = 0. Ions move under action of high-frequency field characterized in quadrature distribution of potential in coordinates x and y along axis y over paths close to sinusoid and in time ta proportional to masses m they reach plane y = 0 and are brought out of analyzer through slit to recording system. Mass-analyzer has hyperbolic and angle electrodes. Angle electrode has slit in its top for admitting and discharging ions. Flat screening electrodes are installed between hyperbolic and angle electrodes. Ions are formed past angle electrode between two flat electrodes of which one is semitransparent electrode. Ions are accelerated under effect of short pulse on flat electrode and enter analyzer work area through semitransparent electrode. Analyzer is supplied with constant-amplitude and constant-frequency sine-wave voltage from high-frequency generator. ^ EFFECT: enhanced speed and sensitivity of mass-analysis, enlarged range of masses being analyzed. ^ 2 cl, 1 dwg |
