#CMT# #/CMT# A stenosis remover (2) is located near the distal end of a shaft (1), the remover displaced into first and second positions. In the first position, the remover extends inside the circumferential contours of the shaft. In the second position, the remover extends outside the shaft contours so that the radial outside of the remover is at a greater radial distance from the centerline of the shaft. #CMT# : #/CMT# An actuator assembly vibrates the stenosis remover at high frequency, usually between 10 to 1000 hertz, the remover movably connected with the shaft by a guide wire (5). A slidable holder is connected with the shaft. The stenosis remover comprises a gauze-shaped member which can be brought from a first position with small radial dimensions into a second position with larger radial dimensions. The gauze-shaped member is protected by a friction-reducing coating provided with a medicament which promotes the recovery of the vascular wall tissue in the treated area, and is manufactured from a folded memory metal which unfolds under the influence of body temperature.
