<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grid polarizer which has an anti-scratch property and an anti-fouling property, and has a sufficient flexibility and strength. <P>SOLUTION: The grid polarizer comprises: a first layer made of transparent material; second layers which are plurally formed in parallel to each other so as to be extended as long and narrow lines apart from each other on the main surface of the first layer, and include a material having at least 1.0 for the absolute value of the difference between a real part (n) and an imaginary part (κ) of complex refractive index (N=n-iκ); and a third layer formed so as to block separate parts between top parts of the second layers adjoining away from each other by depositing an inorganic oxide or an inorganic nitride obliquely with respect to the main surface of the first layer, wherein air or an inactive gas is included in a space surrounded by the first layer, the second layer and the third layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
