PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner capable of simplifying a layout of viewing optical system sensors, adjusting the position of a light shielding plate or of two fixed mirrors with a simply structured assembly adjusting tool, and thereby holding down assembling cost. SOLUTION: The typical structure of the optical scanner is composed of a rotary polygon mirror 4 that deflects and scans a light beam L emitted from a semiconductor laser 1, an incident optical system 2 that forms at a prescribed position an image of the light beam L deflected by the rotary polygon mirror 4, an image forming lens 8, and reflection optical elements (reflection mirror 3, fixed mirrors 6, 7, half mirror 10) that guide to the prescribed position the optical beam L emitted from the semiconductor laser 1. The optical scanner is characterized in that at least one reflection optical element is a separating means for separating the incident light beam L into transmitted light L1 and reflected light L2.
