PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly and certainly perform lateral motion of a fork not by applying bending force and shearing force to a thread rod in a fork shift device applied to a cargo work vehicle such as a fork lift and adjusting a clearance of those by laterally moving the fork. SOLUTION: The fork shift device is constituted by a liftable carriage 2; the fork 3 laterally movably suspended on this; the thread rod 4 rotatably provided on the carriage 2 and rotated by a motor; a thread element 5 provided on the fork 3 and thread-engaged with the thread rod 4; and a stopper nut 6 positioning-fixably thread-engaged with the thread rod 4 and abutted with the thread element 5.
